Overview:

Number of servings: 4

Meal: Breakfast

Main Ingredient: Bread

Cuisine: French

Recipe is For: Omnivore (Meat and Veggies)

Ingredients:

1 cup Milk, nonfat, fluid, with added nonfat milk solids and vitamin A (fat free or skim)

3 small Egg, whole, raw, fresh

1 pat (1” sq, 1/3” high) Butter, without salt

1 tsp Vanilla extract

8 slice, small (2” x 2-1/2” x 1-3/4”) Bread, french or vienna (includes sourdough)

1/2 cup Sugars, granulated

4 tbsp Syrups, maple

Directions:

Step 1:Preheat oven to 500 degrees. In a bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla. Set aside and rub butter onto baking pan. We try to use less butter than the recipe calls for.2 mins
Step 2:Soak the slices of french bread in the egg mixture so they are completely drenched. We found it is easiest one at a time and wait for them not to float, about 30 seconds each. Place in pan as each is finished.4 mins
Step 3:Bake for 8 minutes, then remove from oven and flip each slice of bread. Bake again for another 4 minutes.15 mins
Step 4:Serve with a Tbsp of syrup each. Sometimes we use apple butter which is really good.1 min
Step 5:Make sure to only eat two slices to stay under 500 calories, they are really good and its hard not to eat more. Most of the sodium actually comes from the French Bread, we were surprised at how much salt it really has.0 min
